I am a founder and member of this network of academically trained native speakers: we are passionate about teaching and advising people from all over the world about the German language.

Fachverband Deutsch als Fremdsprache (Professional Association for German as a Foreign and Second Language)

I am a member because the Professional Association offers language teachers and Germanists an interface between science and research and teaching practice, and promotes the sharing of views and ideas among my peers.

Language is very much alive. As a member of the GfDS, I keep abreast of new developments in language.

Founded in 1947, the GfDS not only selects the “Word of the Year” and publishes an annual list of the most popular first names, but also deals with issues relating to modern language usage – from "Kiez (youth) dialects to Genderstern gender-appropriate language and current spelling rules: “How authoritative is the Duden dictionary?” “Wie verbindlich ist der Duden?”

Gegen Vergessen – Für Demokratie (Against Forgetting – Pro Democracy)

The goals of this non-profit association are close to my heart: a commitment to tolerance and international understanding, no to political extremism, racism, and xenophobia. This is why I am a member.

Max Liebermann Society Berlin

We members of the Max Liebermann Society support the preservation and running of the Liebermann Villa on the shores of Lake Wannsee as a museum – a very special place where German history comes alive in the footsteps of the Liebermann family.

Friends of Prussian Palaces and Gardens

The Friends of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation knows and appreciates the historical significance of the palaces and gardens in Berlin and Brandenburg. They are places where a great deal of German history, architecture, and art can be found. Promoting, preserving, and connecting is important to us.

wbg – Wissen. Bildung. Gemeinschaft. (Knowledge. Education. Community.)

The wbg is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting science and education. Founded in 1949 as a scholarly book club to support libraries in the post-war period, today its members make it possible to promote projects and advance debates and issues in the humanities. Once a year, it awards the non-fiction book prize “Wissen!”

Europa-Union Deutschland

There is no doubt in our minds: our future is in a strong Europe. Our non-affiliated citizens’ initiative, founded in 1946, works for a Europe that is close to its citizens – through voluntary commitment at regional, national, and European level. Germany is no island. Deutschland ist keine Insel.

Emilia Romagna in Berlin

We all live together in Europe – with direct links: languages open doors. And together we enjoy good food and drink. After all, what better way is there to celebrate our European diversity?
